Beauty Spotlight: RiRi for MAC

Image

Sure, there’s the ongoing media obsession over her relationship with Chris Brown, but that’s balanced out by her Grammy-winning singing career, her new fashion line with ‘River Island’ and, now, a new, groundbreaking deal with MAC Cosmetics.

Image

The first product to launch will be ‘RiRi Woo’ (above), a lipstick inspired by the classic MAC red Ruby Woo – a favourite of Rihanna’s.

Rihanna approached the task with a laser focus. “She wanted RiRi Woo to be slightly more blue-red and retro matte — a matte with moisturizer finish we’d used in a collection years ago and currently only have in one product,” said Balbier (MAC’s senior vice president of global product development). “She was especially adamant that the color be suitable for every skin tone.”

I am super excited to get my hands on this lipstick! However, the dates of the international launch has not be set yet.

I’ll be a keeping an eye on this, I’m sure you guys will too! Am I right ladies?

Collective Haul: Makeup ♢

Image

I know I haven’t been posting in MONTHS! I’m not gonna apologize for it, because, I’ve been preparing for my mocks, and I found it very hard to focus on more than one thing at a time. But I’m back, for a few days till my boards actually start! During my absence from blogging-world, I had a few visits to the stores here and there.  So let me introduce you to some amazing products, and some not-so-amazing ones too…Image

This is a limited edition Smashbox eyeshadow palette, from their ‘Love Me’ line. They have 3 different palettes, however I bought the ‘Admire ME’ one. This palette is AMAZING. The eyeshadows have a very nice soft texture, and good pigmentation power!

Image

I really loved the packaging of this product.

As you can see the palette has “Love Me” written in black plastic and that layer lifts up so you can get to the actual shadows underneath.  I love the shape inside, though the smaller areas can be trickier to get into with a brush.

Image

As you guys can see, it has very tiny sparkles, which actually makes it softer and easier to blend, when comparing it to usual shimmery shadows.

Image

Here’s the swatch… Now, this is just one swipe of the colours. So starting from left to right.

We’ve got a  Deep Golden Brown, which is really good as a crease colour, or just for a brown smoky eye. Then a Matt Nude colour, which is perfect for a crease colour, when you want to keep your eye makeup minimal but with a little definition. Then we’ve got a Champagne colour, which is so versatile on it’s own. Then on to a Soft Shimmering Coral, which adds a really soft colour. Finally, a Shimmering Bronze.

I’m really loving this palette right now, especially with Summer coming up, warm colours are the way to go for me!

Image

While I was in Sephora, the lady working at Smashbox recommended this foundation to me. So, I swatched it! I loved the consistency, coverage, and the hydrating formula.

I bought one, and started using it. Let me tell you… I have never seen a foundation last this long! The foundation claims to last ’15 hours’, which is not entirely true… However it does last long in HOT weather in comparison to other foundations. I also found out that I don’t really need to use a setting powder to set it. It leaves my face matte, without looking …’caked’ on?

Verdict: I quite like this. I don’t think I’ve been THIS thrilled about a foundation before. So I highly recommend it!

Image

I think by now you guys are like, ‘Smashbox? AGAIN?!’ But really guys, I’m really liking their new products. If you haven’t tried any of their products, am pretty sure you’re gonna like something! With Smashbox, there’s something for everyone! Quit rambling and tell us what this is! This is their new Halo Long-Wear blush. I believe that it actually speaks for itself.

Image

The thing about this that really drew me in, was that it had a built-in grinder, which gives me control over how much of the product I wanted. However, the only drawback was that things could get mess!

Image

Verdict: I love the sheerness of this blush! However you can build it up. It does last throughout the day. It is very pigmented so, a little goes a very long way with this one!

Image

Next up! Brow zings by Benefit! It’s basically a brow kit.

Image

The kit includes a soft, pigmented wax that defines and shapes brows and a color complementing setting powder to keep them looking wow, plus discreet tweezers for pesky stray hairs, a hard angle brush, and a blending brush.

At first I was a little skeptical about the wax/powder duo. However, I didn’t  like the powder, as it is pure brown, and have darker eyebrows, so the colour pay-off was a little ridiculous, I would say…

Verdict: I really liked this, however I don’t think I’ll be using it on myself. I don’t know… Maybe give it to someone that can totally make this product work for them.

Image

More on eyebrows! I bought the Makeup Forever ‘AQUA BROW’ eyebrow corrector. I saw a review on this product on youtube, so I was on the look out ever since. I’m like obsessed with this one already! I like that they have a wide range of colours to match your actual hair! So this product is a must-have product.

Image

It comes in a black mesh case, which is really thoughtful of them, as it keeps your product and brushes together. Along with the eyebrow corrector, an angled brush and a spooly. The brushes make the application more natural. The formula of the brow corrector is AMAZING. It does stay longer than I thought, which is a good thing!

Verdict: I am absolutely in love with the Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow. I can easily say it is my Holy Grail Eyebrow product and I can’t see myself finding something else that suits my needs better.

Image

Finally. I got myself an Urband Decay ‘Eyeshadow Primer Potion’. Nothing much to say about this. It’s amazing, but so is NARS eyeshadow primer. I’m really happy with the new packaging of this product, as the old one didn’t really work for so many people. However, the only problem I have with this is that, some times if the product stays in for too long, it tends to ‘separate’ its contents, so it turns REALLY runny. To fix my problem, I found out that I had to shake it really well before using it. I don’t know if this is a common problem, or whether I just got a ‘bad’ one…?

Image

Verdict: I still do love this, and I’ll probably repurchase this once it’s over!

This finishes my haul, I hope you enjoyed reading all the reviews. Leave a comment if you’d like!

I’ve been loving the Dior’s Runway looks on the models! It’s very minimal, but very glammed up! The eye make up has a slight crease-cut, and a winged eyeliner, along with a clean finished eyebrows!

Makeup artist Pat McGrath adorned models’ lips with red gemstones for a look that was very reminiscent of ruby red slippers. This sparkling take on lipstick might look complicated, but in terms of a DIY, it’s easier to test out at home than the newest nail art trend.

To get this look, you’ll want to adhere tiny gemstones overtop of a tinted lip. Traditional lipstick will be too slippery—instead go for something without a sticky texture or added shine, like a lip stain.  Let the lip tint dry for a few minutes before you start adding the sparkle. Now the fun part: use eyelash adhesive, and start to stick the gemstones to your lips. You will need two sizes of gemstones, the slightly smaller size for the outline and bigger to fill in your lips. Add the gems to the outline of your lips first and then fill them in. Also note that the lips at Dior have an almost exaggerated bow, so if the gemstones sit slightly outside your natural lip line, that’s okay.

The key to making the Dior gemstone lip last is all in the timing: this look is ideal for a night out where no eating is involved—and preferably one where any drinking can be done through a straw. Think you’ll try this at home? Share pictures if you do!

Makeup Essentials: Travel Edition

In my world there never seems to be enough minutes in the day. So when it comes to packing for a trip away, this calls for military precision combined with the ability to think under pressure and pack a suitcase at lightening speed! Not saying I leave it to the last minute… but….. maybe I do!

Now as you may have guessed, I’m leaving for Europe tomorrow morning, and while I was packing I had to keep in my mind to pack light. Once I cut down my makeup products, I thought maybe I could do a quick post on in here. So without further adieu.

No, it’s not what you guys think. I did not lay a towel under my makeup. It’s a blanket, a fluffy, soft, comfy and cozy one!Image

Tinted Moisturizer Smack-down; Dior vs. Laura Mercier

I know! I know… It’s been a while! But hey, I will make it up to you! The title of this post says it all. Today I’ll be reviewing and comparing two beauty products, that I think every girl SHOULD own. Doesn’t matter whether you have a foundation or not. EVERYONE needs a tinted moisturizer!

To those of you who don’t know what a Tinted Moisturizer is. Tinted moisturizer is a facial make up which moisturizes your skin along with giving it the coverage of a foundation with a super lightweight, build-able solution that includes an SPF protectant.

Image

Now, I’ve tried two tinted moisturizers. The Dior ‘Pro-Youth Skin Tint’  in 2 and Laura Mercier ‘Tinted Moisturizer’ in Almond.

THE DIOR ‘PRO-YOUTH SKIN TINT’

Image

As far as the HydraLife Skin Tint is concerned, it covered the uneven skin tone very well but it accentuated the presence of any pimple that I had! Especially since I have little tiny bumps next to my nose. That’s because the finish of the Skin Tint is a bit reminiscent of vinyl – shiny, in a bad way. If you have enlarged pores or hyperpigmentation, the Skin TInt will work for you. If you, however, have acne or other skin texture issues, avoid the Skin Tint! Hydra Life really does moisturize my skin very well but it leaves a sheer glossy film on my skin, which some people like and some people don’t, and I happen to fall under the latter. Apart from the irksome finish, it’s undertones are a little different than the LM Tinted Moisturizer. The HL Skin Tint had a more orang-ish undertone and made me look slightly tanner. Though I gotta give it credit for the spf 20 and for lasting through out the day!

THE LAURA MERCIER TINTED MOISTURIZER SPF 20 – OIL FREE

Image

o! My favourite part has finally come! The LM Tinted Moisturizer has always been my favourite substitute for a daily foundation. It has spf 20 and is light weight, and build-able [as opposed to Dior HL Skin Tint]. It left my skin radiant and dewy but not glossy. As far as the undertone goes, it has a more neutral tone to it, which explains why it looks more natural than the Dior HL Skin tint.

In a nutshell, I am very satisfied with my LM Tinted Moisturizer, but it’s a shame that it’s not available in UAE (I bought mine from Malaysia last summer). However, I still think that Dior HL Skin Tint would make the cut for the closest thing available to LM Tinted Moisturizer.

Beauty Review: Thalgo Foaming Marine Cleanser

Image

Hey lovelies! In today’s post I’ll be reviewing a product which I tried out! Well, first off. I’ve been using a cleanser that stripped down all the natural oil from my skin and felt tight after using. And I’ve tried 3 different cleansers this year! Yes. I thought I’d never find one that would actually work! But my sister who just brought in the ‘Thalgo’ spa line in her Beauty Centre! And I’ve been going there for facial every so often and I gotta tell ya, my skin has never felt/looked this good in my LIFE. But anyways, once day, my sister gave me her ‘Thalgo Foaming Marine Cleanser‘ to try out! Even though I’ve used it only 3 times, I gotta tell you guys… It’s the best thing that happened to my face. Okay, apart from those facials.

The cleanser does EXACTLY what it claims. It comes as a foam, which can be dispensed with a pump, all you need is to, take a pump in your fingers and massage it throughly into your skin. Then rinse away with lukewarm water, and pat! And Voila! You’ve got yourself a clean, makeup-less, and fresh face!

Now this cleanser is made for ‘Normal to combination skin’. As for me, I have combination skin, which is why I found that my skin responded the best to it! Let’s not forget it has nutrients that feed your skin too!
