Collective Haul: Makeup ♢

Image

I know I haven’t been posting in MONTHS! I’m not gonna apologize for it, because, I’ve been preparing for my mocks, and I found it very hard to focus on more than one thing at a time. But I’m back, for a few days till my boards actually start! During my absence from blogging-world, I had a few visits to the stores here and there.  So let me introduce you to some amazing products, and some not-so-amazing ones too…Image

This is a limited edition Smashbox eyeshadow palette, from their ‘Love Me’ line. They have 3 different palettes, however I bought the ‘Admire ME’ one. This palette is AMAZING. The eyeshadows have a very nice soft texture, and good pigmentation power!

Image

I really loved the packaging of this product.

As you can see the palette has “Love Me” written in black plastic and that layer lifts up so you can get to the actual shadows underneath.  I love the shape inside, though the smaller areas can be trickier to get into with a brush.

Image

As you guys can see, it has very tiny sparkles, which actually makes it softer and easier to blend, when comparing it to usual shimmery shadows.

Image

Here’s the swatch… Now, this is just one swipe of the colours. So starting from left to right.

We’ve got a  Deep Golden Brown, which is really good as a crease colour, or just for a brown smoky eye. Then a Matt Nude colour, which is perfect for a crease colour, when you want to keep your eye makeup minimal but with a little definition. Then we’ve got a Champagne colour, which is so versatile on it’s own. Then on to a Soft Shimmering Coral, which adds a really soft colour. Finally, a Shimmering Bronze.

I’m really loving this palette right now, especially with Summer coming up, warm colours are the way to go for me!

Image

While I was in Sephora, the lady working at Smashbox recommended this foundation to me. So, I swatched it! I loved the consistency, coverage, and the hydrating formula.

I bought one, and started using it. Let me tell you… I have never seen a foundation last this long! The foundation claims to last ’15 hours’, which is not entirely true… However it does last long in HOT weather in comparison to other foundations. I also found out that I don’t really need to use a setting powder to set it. It leaves my face matte, without looking …’caked’ on?

Verdict: I quite like this. I don’t think I’ve been THIS thrilled about a foundation before. So I highly recommend it!

Image

I think by now you guys are like, ‘Smashbox? AGAIN?!’ But really guys, I’m really liking their new products. If you haven’t tried any of their products, am pretty sure you’re gonna like something! With Smashbox, there’s something for everyone! Quit rambling and tell us what this is! This is their new Halo Long-Wear blush. I believe that it actually speaks for itself.

Image

The thing about this that really drew me in, was that it had a built-in grinder, which gives me control over how much of the product I wanted. However, the only drawback was that things could get mess!

Image

Verdict: I love the sheerness of this blush! However you can build it up. It does last throughout the day. It is very pigmented so, a little goes a very long way with this one!

Image

Next up! Brow zings by Benefit! It’s basically a brow kit.

Image

The kit includes a soft, pigmented wax that defines and shapes brows and a color complementing setting powder to keep them looking wow, plus discreet tweezers for pesky stray hairs, a hard angle brush, and a blending brush.

At first I was a little skeptical about the wax/powder duo. However, I didn’t  like the powder, as it is pure brown, and have darker eyebrows, so the colour pay-off was a little ridiculous, I would say…

Verdict: I really liked this, however I don’t think I’ll be using it on myself. I don’t know… Maybe give it to someone that can totally make this product work for them.

Image

More on eyebrows! I bought the Makeup Forever ‘AQUA BROW’ eyebrow corrector. I saw a review on this product on youtube, so I was on the look out ever since. I’m like obsessed with this one already! I like that they have a wide range of colours to match your actual hair! So this product is a must-have product.

Image

It comes in a black mesh case, which is really thoughtful of them, as it keeps your product and brushes together. Along with the eyebrow corrector, an angled brush and a spooly. The brushes make the application more natural. The formula of the brow corrector is AMAZING. It does stay longer than I thought, which is a good thing!

Verdict: I am absolutely in love with the Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow. I can easily say it is my Holy Grail Eyebrow product and I can’t see myself finding something else that suits my needs better.

Image

Finally. I got myself an Urband Decay ‘Eyeshadow Primer Potion’. Nothing much to say about this. It’s amazing, but so is NARS eyeshadow primer. I’m really happy with the new packaging of this product, as the old one didn’t really work for so many people. However, the only problem I have with this is that, some times if the product stays in for too long, it tends to ‘separate’ its contents, so it turns REALLY runny. To fix my problem, I found out that I had to shake it really well before using it. I don’t know if this is a common problem, or whether I just got a ‘bad’ one…?

Image

Verdict: I still do love this, and I’ll probably repurchase this once it’s over!

This finishes my haul, I hope you enjoyed reading all the reviews. Leave a comment if you’d like!

I’ve been loving the Dior’s Runway looks on the models! It’s very minimal, but very glammed up! The eye make up has a slight crease-cut, and a winged eyeliner, along with a clean finished eyebrows!

Makeup artist Pat McGrath adorned models’ lips with red gemstones for a look that was very reminiscent of ruby red slippers. This sparkling take on lipstick might look complicated, but in terms of a DIY, it’s easier to test out at home than the newest nail art trend.

To get this look, you’ll want to adhere tiny gemstones overtop of a tinted lip. Traditional lipstick will be too slippery—instead go for something without a sticky texture or added shine, like a lip stain.  Let the lip tint dry for a few minutes before you start adding the sparkle. Now the fun part: use eyelash adhesive, and start to stick the gemstones to your lips. You will need two sizes of gemstones, the slightly smaller size for the outline and bigger to fill in your lips. Add the gems to the outline of your lips first and then fill them in. Also note that the lips at Dior have an almost exaggerated bow, so if the gemstones sit slightly outside your natural lip line, that’s okay.

The key to making the Dior gemstone lip last is all in the timing: this look is ideal for a night out where no eating is involved—and preferably one where any drinking can be done through a straw. Think you’ll try this at home? Share pictures if you do!

Atelier Versace Spring Collection 2013!

Recently I’ve been seen LOTS of runway pictures, and I thought I could share them with you. The spring 2013 collections were very intricate, some were hot, some where not.

When you think of the word ‘runway’ with all the big names, you instantly think… Elegant? Refined? Posh? But is it really the case with Donatella Versace? I think the collection says it all.

I saw lots of golds, blacks, some neutrals, and some neon. Who would’ve guessed? Not me.

Versace said that she had been inspired by Le Centorial, the glass, iron and steel domed building in the heart of Paris.

Probably my favourite out of the whole collection!

The white mink coat (above), which, reworked with mirror, python and crystal embroidery, took 500 hours to construct. But 500 hours for a single jacket? That sounds museum-worthy rather than real fashion. But Versace insists there are no plans to open a Versace museum. “We keep one of every item for our archives, ” she says, ” but while I love museums, I prefer to see my clothes on living bodies”.

‘It’s all about gold,’ said Donatella Versace immediately before her Atelier Versace show kicked off the spring/summer haute couture collections in Paris. And indeed it was – from the 24-carat pinstripe patch-worked into narrow–waisted, strong-shouldered jackets and cigarette-leg trousers, to the talon heels of shoes. More precious metal came in the form of gleaming oversized epaulettes and exaggerated cuffs that were part must-have accessory, part weaponry, and the house’s signature metal mesh. It’s safe to say that Versace chainmail is as razzle-dazzle spectacular now as it ever was.

ON THE MAKEUP:

“Donatella was really obsessed with a neon green metallic that’s in the shoes and in the clothing – really lime, hot green metallic,” explained McGrath Sunday night backstage. “So we added just a little strip of eyeliner to the outside of the eyes as a line and a little bit on the inner corners.”

So I did like the detailing, but is it something I’d wear? Hahaha no. Do tell me guys what you think about Versace newest collection!

The 5 Friends that You Really Need ~

I look at some people, and I see that they have TONS of friends, while some have a few close ones. I happen to fall under the latter. It’s not really important to actually have TONS of friends, that I’ve learnt through my experiences. It’s making sure you are surrounded with the people who are the nearest to your heart. I personally think that I need a few of ‘good quality’ friends, (whatever that means, right?) But, really. Here are five types of friends I think are essential to have in every person’s life.

  1. The Mentor. Usually it’s a person who’s older, could be your sister, brother, mother, father, a person in school, etc. Find someone you could always run to when things get tough, obviously because they’re more experienced than you are.
  2. The confidant. Obviously, a person you trust. Whether you trust with an advice regarding how your butt looks in a pair of pants, hahaha, or a truthful opinion about something personal, it’s always good to have a person you can trust. They’re VERY hard to come by, but once you do find one, hold on to them even when things get tough!
  3. The banter buddy. You’re a chatterbox who would make any Gossip Girl fan proud and you need a gossip outlet. So who’s the Serena to your Blair? You know that you can’t call just ANY friend and talk for hours. So embrace the women who considers endless hours of chatting as one of life’s greatest luxuries, and find someone who shares the same gift as you do!
  4. The play pal. Seek a person that is always up for something spontaneous and is willing to make time. Whether it’s the gym, the pool, a walk, lunch, or maybe just manis and pedis.
  5. The protégé. Look around you: do you have a friend that is younger than you? If you do, then you’ve found your ‘protégé’! It’s always good to have a person that has the ability to surprise you with her/his insight into life.

BUT IF YOU’VE FOUND A FRIEND THAT FALLS UNDER EVERY CATEGORY (LIKE I DID), THEN ITHINK YOU’VE FOUND YOUR SOULMATE.

So I dedicate this post to my friends, I love you guys to pluto and back. No matter how far or how long we’ve been apart, as long as we both remember… We’re still connected! x

[Disclaimer: Since I don’t have the permission of my friends to post this picture, I blurred out the faces. So YAY for ghost face! AND group hugs! Hahahaha]

Hey guys! I have a new post today which is something a little different that I haven’t tried. This is my very first haul post! If you’re interested then keep on reading!

I went to a MAC store and got me a bunch of stuff, and so did my sister! I just had to get new makeup! So the things I picked are:

    Image

  • A Select cover-up concealer, in ‘NC30’.

Image

  • A flat-stippling brush, in 130. For blending my foundations if I put any.
  • A fluffy-domed brush, in 138. For contouring and definition.

DIY: Cute Glass Containers!

I’m here today with a new DIY idea! I just LOVE DIY projects! Apart from the fact that you could revamp old stuff, you actually can have fun with it, (atleast I know I do!)

So let’s get this started!

Image

You will need:

  • An old brush.
  • Glitter (Colour of your choice).
  • Some heavy duty crafts glue. (Suitable for glass)
  • Glass container of your choice.
  • A safe workplace.
  • A towel.
  • Old Plate.

Image

First off, peel off any stickers, and  wash the glass container very thoroughly, then wipe the container till dry with a towel. This is to ensure that the glue has a good and clean base to stick on to.

Image

Unseal the glue cap.

Image

Use the plate to pour a generous amount of glue, then pour in the glitter and mix well, until you obtain a good consistency. If the glue is too runny, add more glitters, and if it’s too chunky, add more glue.

Image

Get your brush, and dip it into the mixture that you’ve prepared, and paint the insides of the container. Paint even strokes to ensure so you avoid gaps. Voila! ImageImage

Now, make sure to give your container at least 24hrs to dry completely!

This is a really easy DIY, and a very good way to glam up your room. I use these containers to store little nicknacks, like bobby pins, hair bands, makeup brushes, etc. It keeps my things organized, much, much better.

I hope you enjoyed this! Do try it out and show me what you came up with!

Love Always,

Shamma x.

24/9

If I were to know,
What then –  I knew not.
I could have saved myself.
But I’m ever drowning in my sorrow.
The ache you left behind.
I clench on to it ever so tightly.
For it is all that reminds me of you now.
Besides the lethal memories,
that I dare not share out loud.
I dare not expose – the darkest part of me,
for it took me no further with you.
My love, why have you forsaken me?
You shunned me to the darkest place.
Darker than the depth of oceans.
Darker than the graves.
But I hold on to you,
ever so tightly.

For you’re, my only light of day.
